A calming bedtime prayer to help you release worry, quiet anxious thoughts, and rest in God’s peace. This “Night Prayer for a Steady Heart” invites God to steady your emotions, cover your home with protection, and renew your strength as you sleep.
Night Prayer for a Steady Heart
Father God, as I close this day and quiet my thoughts, I come to You just as I am. You see everything I carried—every worry I tried to hide, every moment I felt strong, and every moment I felt fragile. Tonight, I ask You for a steady heart.
When my mind replays what I should have said, what I should have done, or what I can’t control, speak Your peace over me. Settle the waves inside my chest. Replace anxious thoughts with Your truth.
Teach me to breathe slowly and trust deeply, knowing You are still working even when I cannot see it.
Lord, steady my emotions when they feel like shifting sand. Anchor me in Your love that does not change. If fear tries to visit me in the dark, remind me that You never sleep, and You never leave.
Guard my home, cover my family, and place Your protection around every door and window.
I release this day into Your hands—the unfinished tasks, the heavy conversations, the silent burdens. Forgive me where I fell short, and cleanse my heart from bitterness, regret, and pressure.
Fill me with gratitude for the good You gave me today.
Now, Lord, let Your calm settle over my body. Give me restful sleep and a renewed spirit. I will lie down in peace, because You, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Psalm 4:8 (NIV) — “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.”
